Bet On America
Points Moved
For The Motion
Against The Motion

Intelligence Squared has the best debates, and this one was no exception. With the broad subject of Bet on America there is bound to be some great arguments. It was a pleasure to watch the minds and ideas of Peter Zeihan and James Rickards clash.

Joseph Joffe, while not the best arguer, had plenty worth paying attention to.

Chrystia Freeland made for good comedic relief with such gems as:

The Series

Now that I've warmed up with some ramblings about Chrystia Freeland, I can get to the point. Over the next few posts, I'm going to be talking about this debate and some of the points that stood out to me.

The plan is to do a short post on each opening statement, one on the general debate, and a final post on closing statements.

This makes for six blog posts. With this sites new link structure strategy, that will also provide fodder for many hidden posts that I will link to in this series at some point in time.

I highly recommend giving the debate a watch. If you're upset that I already "spoiled the ending," you're missing the point of the debates. Check it out and tell me what you think. Even if you're an anarchist, would you bet on America? As things stand, do you see it staying strong far into the future?
